So, week 2. More of the same. But the warm up we do w Maija Garcia (associate choreographer) is incredible. Very similar in some ways to the Fin warm up for Equus, but longer, less breakneck running, more breathing/stretching, and most importantly more music!!!!!! LOL. Another interesting tidbit, we re using the EXACT same rehearsal studio we used for Equus too. The similarities end there though :-). Too much to get into for now, but basically there is tons of singing….. did I say tons, lots of dance/movement/staging…….yup. The band & music is INCREDIBLE. If you don’t know anything about Fela Anikulapo Kuti do some homework, google, wiki, Barnes & Nobles/Border’s Bookstore, whatever it is you need to. I’m saying: come on y’all get with it. Fix Ya Faces!!!!!!!!! LOL. Suffice to say it will be a very unique show for Broadway. LOL…….trust me. Oh did I say Bill T Jones is directing & choreographing? No joke. Ya have NO clue. It’s Not A Game x 50…………
Lets’ see what else…..well we lost a musical icon, genius, trailblazer, trendsetter and much more this past week! Michael Jackson left to join the ancestors. No matter how you look at him, he changed the world with his art and opened people’s hearts, and that is a great thing, right? Right!!!!! We should be thankful because NOTHING is promised nor guaranteed. So with all that being said, and more left to meander between the lines, phrases and paragraphs let’s see what this week has to offer. Or what I can offer the week 🙂

Damn, the Michael Jackson thing really took me aback. I had such a crush on him when I was little. When I was 6, I went to my first midnight release at a record store to get Thriller. Yeah, there’s the math on how old I am… but that’s okay, because I was alive for what I knew even then was a pretty epic moment in music history. He was groundbreaking, a visionary, nothing short of genius, whatever anyone may choose to think/say about his personal life. You’re right — he changed the world, for the better.
Glad to hear things are going so well with Fela! Which would you say has been more difficult choreography, this or Equus? Which one’s tougher on your legs (bet I can guess!)? 🙂

Good to hear rehearsals are going well.
BTW, I spotted your buddy Spencer/Super Trooper last week at a teen marketing conference where I was working. He was promoting “Haute and Bothered,” a web series he’s in about a fashion competition. Have you seen it?
Also have been watching Anna Camp on “True Blood” – it’s a great role for her. Nice to see that the “Equus” alum have moved on and are busy!
As for the death of MJ, I don’t think there will be another pop star as big as he was. Even though I wasn’t a huge fan, his music was everywhere and he changed pop culture. Too bad his life turned into a freak show later on.

Sounds like you’re having a great time on a cool show. Break a leg!
Michael Jackson was a complete shock and no matter what he left one of the biggest impacts of all time on music. My mom actually called threatening to sell my vinyl Thriller, and I don’t think I like that idea.

Just saw you perform the title role of Fela! in Los Angeles. Bravo! Well done indeed. Felt like Fela himself was channelling through you.
Your performance was well enjoyed 🙂
All the best… continued inspiration & creation to you.
